Where can I get a Cancer screening in DeKalb County?
Updated: Jul 3, 2019
There are several DeKalb County and independent run programs and facilities that provide cancer screenings, as well as treatment and after-care services.

I continue to be a strong believer in the life-saving importance of early detection, and I encourage everyone to be proactive about their preventive screenings. - Roy Blunt
The Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, facilitated by the DeKalb County Board of Health provides access to breast examination and mammograms for low-income, uninsured, and underserved women between the ages of 40-64 years. It also provides access to pelvic examinations and Pap tests to screen for cervical cancer in women 21-64 years that are low-income, uninsured, and underserved. If results are abnormal, diagnostic evaluations are completed and clients are referred for treatment through the Women’s Health Medicaid Program. Please call 404.244.2200 for more information.

According to the DeKalb Medical website, on average, only two to four screening mammograms of every 1,000 lead to a diagnosis of cancer. About 10 percent of women who have a mammogram will need more tests. Only eight to 10 percent of those women will need a biopsy, and most (80 percent) of those biopsies will not be cancer. Give yourself piece of mind and schedule a mammogram today by calling 404.501.SCHD or click here.
